We have had edf in a few times to change our meter they were amused we had no french sockets, the chap had to drill into our wall but solved the problem by taking the plug off his drill and putting the bare wires onto the incoming mains wire (cringe point here) but he did it, and no mention regarding our wiring or sockets???? it is confusing, but I would like to update and conform to new regulations so any help and info much appreciated |

This is yet another one of those misleading stories I'm afraid (but I'm not "shooting the messenger", GarryC).
An installer may well produce their own certification but there is only one body who inspect installations for official purposes, & that is CONSUEL (http://www.consuel.com). There is absolutely no way that they would have passed English style wiring. By the way, what EU rules?
To laraine; as your installation is 15 years old it will fall under the need to have the wiring inspected as part of the "diagnostic technique immobiliers" (http://www.logement.gouv.fr/rubrique.php3?id_rubrique=33).
