Moles - lots of them!

shellydog writes in Home & Garden

Hello, Does anybody know if i can buy a poison in France that will get rid of moles in my garden. I am using lots of smoke cannisters and solar deterrants, but to no avail. I am surrounded by fields and that is probably why i have so many. I have tried setting traps but with no success. I have searched online and have seen a page mentioning that there is a poison to eliminate moles. I would willingly buy kilos of worms if they would leave my lawn alone. Help would be appreciated. A cheap solution is to use mothballs - carefully scrape molehill to uncover hole/tunnel; drop in a mothball; recover. Apparently they don't like the smell and it encourages them to move on! Hopefully back towards the fields but you need to be persistent as they will return. Also, they don't like noise and a lawn that is mown every couple of days (with a noisy lawnmower) seems to suffer less from the critters. Most supermarkets sell mothballs - boule de naphtaline.

I used mothballs very carfully now i have no mothballs left. thay come back twice as many and twice as fast so just cant beat them only if you can get a mole person to clear you of moles

my husband tried everything from catching and re-homing, poison and traditional traps with minimul success however he discovered mole guns, they contain a small cartridge that goes off it doesn't actually shoot the mole but the explosion kills the mole instantly. If you go onto the link below you will see what I mean however they are not easy to find we bought ours from espase emeraude who do still stock the odd one or two but seem now to favour a different type with an electronic charge which is a bit more expensive.

Shellydog, the problem with poisons is that they are pretty nasty if something then eats the corpse. I have a Spanish hunting dog called a Podenco : she has hours of fun hunting moles, beats having a cat any day!
