Hello - We are driving to France and are wondering where we can buy breatherlizer. Are they available on Brittany Ferries or at the ports? And what are they called in french? Thanks for your help!

Hi they sell them in the shop where you buy newspapers on Brittany Ferries. If I remember they were about 4 or 5 euros.

They are called alcohol test here but you will be very lucky to find any for sale in France!! Apparently no action will be taken by the gendarmes untill October at the earliest - bit of a farce really!!

The French for breathalyser is either alcootest or éthylomètre, both will do. .

We found some in Aldi last week, (Mortain). I say found; we would never have found them if the man at the till in front of us hadn't been buying some. He put one back when he realised they were packs of 2, so we just asked if we could buy the other pack. Less than 2 euros!

Mostly sold out in France at the moment though I am afraid!
