Magical Music

This week, on Thursday 21 June, it's the Fête de la Musique, that traditional French celebration of music that isn't really traditional at all (it was started by Jack Lang, then Minister of Culture, in 1982) but still provides a great deal of fun and the opportunity to hear all kinds of tunes.

Sounds abound

All around the region you'll find live music being performed in the streets and squares, in restaurants and bars. In the bigger towns and cities you can expect musical events to last all day - despite the fact that the Fête isn't officially a public holiday - while the smaller towns and villages will really start ramping things up in the evening.

And that's not all. As the long evenings grow warmer you'll find a wealth of festivals and concerts all around the region. So why not browse the AngloINFO What's On Guide to see what's happening near you and have a look through the Events & Festivals category too.

One thing's for certain, whether you want to hear classical, jazz, rock, pop or rock, or traditional music from the region, you should be able to find something you like.
